Nestled along the shores of Lake Eildon, Bonnie Doon conjures up images of long days on the water, country hospitality and safe places for the kids to play.
Famous for all the right reasons
Enjoying the thrill of waterskiing and wakeboarding on Lake Eildon is easy from Bonnie Doon, Peppin Point or Maindample. Or opt for a slower pace with some lake fishing. While you’re fishing lakeside, look for Yellowbelly, Redfin, Carp, Brown Trout and even Murray Cod. You can fish from the shoreline or, for a peaceful afternoon, rent a boat and find yourself a secluded spot. (But don’t forget you’ll need a recreational fishing licence to fish in the High Country.)
The Great Victorian Rail Trail is another great way to explore the Bonnie Doon and Maindample area by bike, horse or foot. From Bonnie Doon it’s a gentle 22km to Mansfield where you can refuel at a local café or restaurant.
