The 48km ride from Mansfield to Mt Buller is a particular favorite for those looking to push their riding to the next level. The ride features a gruelling 16km climb up the Mt Buller Tourist Toad that rises by 909 vertical metres. It was the fourth stage of the 2008 Jayco Herald Sun tour and is included in the first day’s ride of the High Country Cycle Challenge.
The road is signposted with distances and altitudes from the base of the mountain. Pit yourself against local rider Simon Gerrans, Olympian, stage winner at the Tour de France and Giro d’Italia. He completed the climb in 39 minutes and 50 seconds - a personal best.
A range of other rides in the district are available - Check out the local cycling club Mansfield Mt Buller Cycling Club
